2013 ML350 4Matic check engine light on-trouble codes P0442 + P0456....
I have a Mercedes Benz 2013 ML350 SUV 4 Matic.
My check engine light came on. I checked the codes with my OBD2 tester. The two codes that came up were P0442 and P0456.
Here is my question...Has anyone experienced this same problem with this particular year ML350?
If so, I’m assuming replacing the gas cap does NOT fix the problem.
I wanted to start by replacing the O-Ring on the gas cap.
Evap Canister Solenoid O-Ring??
I checkedYouTube- there is nothing on the ML350’s. Thanks for your help! I’m assuming I will emissions with the check engine light on...

I would start by clearing the codes then tightening the gas cap past 3 clicks. If that doesn't work I would replace the cap, ensuring its tightened properly. P0442 is mainly cause by loose fuel tank cap and the first check for P0456 is also loose/faulty fuel cap. P0456 could also be caused by:
Repairing/replacing the leaking purge valve.
Unclogging/replacing the blocked/broken purge vent valve.
Replacing the leaking hoses or connectors within the system.

You are correct! I found the gas cap very loose. What found is that this particular gas. So has a spring loaded setup so you need to turn the gas cap a few times to be sure it locks on place. The light is reset, cleared and has not come back on 👍
