Sunroof Wind Deflector Flapping

I have a 2013 ML 63 AMG. The wind deflector on the sunroof is not secure it just flaps around in the wind. After exhausting Google and YouTube, I am at a loss of how to secure this. I’ve tried tucking it up under the roof of the car repeatedly with no success. There’s nothing for the piece to attach to.

Does anyone have experience installing one of these wind deflectors? Am I missing a part? Photos attached.

has the sunroof been maintained and lubricated? It’s hard to see from your pictures. There’s just a spring on each side under these so it should pop up and have some strength to it when it is in the up position. Is it not rising up all the way or is it somehow separating and rising further than it should?

Hi, thanks for the reply! The sunroof seems to be working perfectly. It’s just that wind deflector that’s broken. To answer your question I would say, it’s rising further than it should, I guess. The main mechanism seems to be attached and working properly, but I don’t know how to attach the bottom part of the mesh to the roof of the car. I think there could be a missing or broken part under the lip of the roof of the car where the mesh attaches, but I’m not sure.

Im thinking about removing the whole wind deflector entirely so I can use the sunroof.
