Hi Fellow Members,
Just made the change from BMW's to an SLK55 AMG. This just seemed to be a good reliable alternative to my past TVR days. Found this to be a great forum with lots of knowledge. My 55 is pretty brutal compared to both my ex TVR and BMW 330ci but the Beamer straight six takes some beating for smoothness! My 55 has the same engine whine at start up as other members have reported and really bugs me. Just to confirm other reports, after removing the auxiliary belt and disconnecting the secondary air pump the whine is still present, therefore i agree it could be from one of the oil pumps or could it be from the timing chain/tensioners. Car has full main dealer history and nothing has ever been reported back after service. Is this something i will have to live with or is there a remedy? Regards
