Finally bought my first Merc...
The car idles horribly, and has a really hard time accelerating until about 3K RPM, then it finally picks up and moves. The straight 6 sounds amazing revving above 3K - I limped the car home last night (over 15 miles) and immediately pulled the spark plugs out and began to access the mechanical issues. It seems the spark plugs are incredibly fouled, and there was oil in the spark plug tubes (Not in the cylinder/spark plug tip fortunately) and the coil packs/wires looked like they have seen better days.
The transmission seems solid, steering and suspension feel incredible on such an old car. This car rides remarkably better than our 2009 Honda Accord. The issues...
*idle is weak and stalls when put in to gear unless you hold the gas a bit
*Overheats a bit when A/C is on (Butnot to a dangerous level it seems)
*One spark plug was barely screwed in and oil has been leaking in to the combustion chamber, and it has a little bit of white smoke when revving hard
*leather is pretty nice besides the driver seat bottom cushion which is torn. *Radio blinks "Wait" and never actually does anything
*power mirrors do not work
*both drivers side windows will not wind up or down
*headlight wipers do not seem to do anything at all
*passenger side headrest does not move up or down with the switch
*drivers side door panel is horrendous - simply falling apart all over
*Center console wood trim is cracked and warped (Looks like the girl who owned the car before dumped a soda all over the center console (I think that's why the mirrors wont work)
*Paint is heavily oxidized on the hood, roof, and trunk
*has winter tires, one of which is bald
Wish me luck... its going to be a long winter
