Hey Guys!
Got my first Mercedes! A 1978 240D Automatic. The car sat for several years before I talked the guy into selling it to me for 500. I believe I have an algae or fuel contamination problem. The in-line filter was black, so I replaced it and it is darkening up quickly. The canister-like filter and another in-line filter should be waiting for me tomorrow. I'm not sure how much fuel is in the tank, but I think I probly should look at the strainer.. Top speed is currently 50 and it takes a good long time to get there. Forget hills! lucky to be still moving by the crest of most hills in this area. I am trying to use up as much fuel as possible so as not to have to dump as much out. Is there anything else that could choke down the engine so badly? Any low hanging fruit before i tackle the tank strainer?
Thanks in Advance and Glad to be aboard!
