new member 1st Post & Project 400,000 Begins!
Life changing moment began November 5th, 2013 when I took delivery of my first MB. A 1995 E320 Cabriolet. It had less than 34k miles. I was picked up by the owner at PBI. After adding license plates and receiving a debrief, I drove straight thru the night to my home in Richmond, Virginia. Adrenaline took excellent care for the 15hr.+ or -. There is so much more to the story and I promise to tell all to anyone who cares to know. More posts to follow. The critical data for right now: My name is Greg. I am so middleaged. I got bit out of nowhere by the W124 E 320 Cabriolet. I now own one and Project 400k is the amount of miles this car is going to get from me. I will be its final master. I am humbled to be a member of this forum.
...And 1 year later Project 400,000 continues. My total expenditures on this car after one year of ownership...$2689.22. This amount was a combination of necessary mechanical and optional cosmetic and discretionary expenditures. If I subtract discretionary expenditures, the total is $1751.35. The vast majority of the service work was at my local dealership. Certainly, the dealership was my most expensive service option but I wanted to get at least a year in at a dealership so I could hopefully get the true estimation of the vehicle before any transition to cheaper service options. Most of the work falls under the heading of recommended service to to insure the longest life of the vehicle. Conclusion: Since the car is running great I have every expectation of costs dropping dramatically in year 2 of ownership while owner satisfaction continues a upward trend. The car has become my daily driver. This was a unexpected development.
The mileage now stands at 45,543. I took delivery at 33,658. I plan to keep this car forever and hope to live long enough to get close to 400,000 miles. I will always be grateful for any tips, suggestions, local expertise advice on this car. The MB bug has bit hard as I have added a 1998 ML320 to the pack. More about that vehicle in another debut post. Regards MBWorld forum members. Safe and happy motoring.

Hey Viren.89,
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my first post and your welcome. I am fortunate that I don't have to depend on the car as a everyday driver. But it is probably mad at me for bringing it to a four seasons climate as opposed to it living in FLA. all the time. I don't have a garage so it stays under a blanket most of the time. Getting a proper garage is this year's top priority. I dream about it when I am not driving it and yes I will get 400,000 miles! Best Regards. So when did the Benz bug bite you?

Hey dejongj,
Thanks for taking the time to post. You are quite right and I will still call project 400,000 a success if that happens. Funny thing is I'm so hooked on MB now that I will own other models in the future I'm sure assuring I probably won't come anywhere close to 400,000 on my first MB. Nice problem to have. What's your ride and are you happy with it?

Thanks for your post and it's a small world. I spent yesterday in ATL looking at the snow through my hotel window. You made a wise decision. Hope you enjoy your MB. I already couldn't imagine not having mine and I haven't had it 3 months yet.

Greg
