ML 350 2006 Liftgate
I apologize if this gets posted in the wrong forum, but I have a question about my lift gate.
My lift gate is not working smoothly because one of the bolts connecting the shock is sheared off. The broken bolt is on the passenger side and is the one that connects the bracket to the control arm. The dealer won't do this for me, so I am going to do it myself. However, like in all things, there are issues.
I can't figure out how to clear the bracket from the lift gate and control arm after removing the other bolt. Common sense tells me to use the lift gate switch to lower the gate a few inches then stop it. Then...push the lift gate upwards to free the area so that I can get a clear look into the hole to extract the broken bolt. I don' want to try and extract the bolt through the hole in the control arm b/c I am not sure I can get it perfectly lined up.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
