Hi new here have a question I have a 2002 c230
and sometimes when I start car and put in reverse it takes 5-6 seconds before engaging. Is this a sign my transmission is going bad?

From what I have heard in the past, yes the long delay between gear shifter and actuation of the gears is a sign that the tranny is going out.

The shift should take place within the first second or so at the most.

Yes on other vehicles I have owned that has been the case also but there were always other signs like there wld be slipping. Could it possibly be low on transmission fluid? Would that cause a delay?
