2011 SLS AMG Owner from SoCal
My name is Marcel and I am Dutch but live in Corona, Ca.
I am the proud owner of a 2011 SLS AMG Coupe, Designo Magno Allanite Grey with Red interior (not really my biggest favorite, but hey better then nothing).
I bought my SLS last year September as a salvage car. The left rear quarter was damaged.
Why salvage? Because I could not afford a un-damaged one but mostly I wanted to have a project to relieve some stress from my daily job.
Found more damaged to the car than expected (of course) and had to do some really major repairs and replacements, also structural.
Anyways, the car is as good as ready to get a ( full) paint job done (planned in 2 weeks) and then I can finally get it ready.
Even though this project was huge the main problem I found is that there is not much to find about how to repair these cars, that I cannot find a specialist/mechanic nearby (not a dealer !!) and that a lot of people I asked (painters and Mercedes/car mechanics) don't dare to touch the car as if it is contagious. Pitty because it is a great and interesting car to work on..
Well this is my SLS story in a nut shell. Hope to find here some like minded people.........

Nice to see another "Dutchy" in the area.
The SLS is a project so thats how I have to approach it and find solutions myself along the way. There is really not much tech backup out there.
Hope you will find a nice one and stay in contact, maybe we can meet some day (have some Dutch friends in SD also.
haha I also see on your info, you own a bmw x6, I had (sold a few months ago) bmw x5m in monte carlo blue. I loved it and all the room for my dog but horrible in gas, i was averaging about $400 a month in gas lol
Just sold my Dutch X6 Hamann because it was for most of the year in storage and after 2 years I felt it was better to sell then to store it and pay also Insurance and road tax.
X6 over here is a 5.0 with M package on it. Fast...........but not as fun and nice as the Dutch one.
And gas...........well those beemers love gas but each time filling up the 20 gallons still gives me a big smile on my face........compared to Dutch prices and taxes.
