Timing chain has come off of cogs.
Just come off the motorway with all the family on board when I pulled up on the drive last Saturday and just before I turned the engine off the car cut out. I tried to restart no joy.
I had Mercedes assist come to my home who advised me the the crankshaft sensor need replacing. Which I was done on Monday by a mobile tec.
The computer then read the cam sensors were faulty so I changed both of them.
The computer still was showing a fault.
Had the car taken to a garage who ran a diagnostic check also showing fault on cam sensor.
Tec removed cover to find the timing chain has slipped of the cogs I've been quoted £1200 just to put the chain back on. And then to carry out checks on valves etc.
I've since have contacted Mercedes customer service who have asked me to take it to the dealer for cause of problem.
Does any one know if there has been any issues with timing Tenshioners or any recalls does anyone know if Mercedes have redesigned the tenshioner recently could really do with some factual evidence to present to Mercedes as I feel lucky to be alive.
