GL550: 2010 CPO vs. 2012 off warranty non-MB dealer
Hi All,
I'm new to the forum.
I'm currently considering buying a GL550 and 2 in particular have made my short list. They are both 1 owner vehicles in the same color, white, with the same options, except that the 2012 has Blind Spot Warning, and the 2 tone interior that wasn't offered in 2010.
I'm worried about the potential high maintenance costs for either vehicle and wonder how much of a real issue that could be?
Anyways, for about a difference of $500, I could get a 2010 GL550 CPO from my local MB dealer with 1 year unlimited CPO warranty and 2 years of prepaid maintenance. The car has about 72k miles, has new tires, new rear brakes, and fronts are quoted at 50%.
The other car is being sold by non-MB dealer about 100 miles away, but is a 2012, with 70,000 miles. the carfax lists the car as being in an front end accident with no airbag deployment. Given this issue, I would have someone professionally inspect to car to reaffirm that there are no-ill effects of the accident. The brakes on the car are new, but the tires are between 4/32 to 5/32's depending on the set.
What are your thoughts on the vehicles?
The 2012 is priced aggressively in order for it to be only about $500 more than the 2010. But, the 2010 has 1 year of CPO warranty and prepaid maintenance.
I plan holding the car at least 3 years and worry about potential maintenance costs and potential resale value.
Your help is much appreciated!

Welcome to MBWorld! As with any car, there will be expenses for repairs, but if you're DIY capable you can help keep the costs of repairs down and money in your wallet. It also just comes down to what one you want more and what deal you feel fits your needs more. Good luck with the purchase!
