Welcome to MBWorld. This is the introduction section. Try posting your question in the W210 section here. Maybe try looking to see if your gear selector bushing needs to be replaced. This bushing sits directly above the catalytic converters and over time, wears out due to heat and repeated use. We have a good DIY here that has some good information. See if it may be helpful to figuring out what the issue may be.

stuck in gear
Hello i had same issue after spilling liquide in gear shifter.....there is a spot on gear sifter that you can stick a pen or pencil and it will release the gears so you can drive.... you can do this until you can afford the 1500 to fix it. If thats what happened to you.... hope that helps.
