From a 300D to an E320
August of 2011 saw me flying to Nashville to pick up an '85 300D, sight unseen, and drive it 1800 miles home. The last 5 years have been filled with Mercedes Love:
But time (and monovalves) have a way of making the eye stray and last week, that 300D's younger brother from another mother found its way to my driveway:
The span for the roof rack isn't quite as wide and I haven't yet looked for anchor points under the front and rear bumpers... I'm hoping The Barge will still ride on the roof... Yes, I'll limit the trunk opening.
I gotta say: the new car doesn't have the class that the old one does, but it makes up for it by having more of everything else.

Looking forward to learing all about my new-to-me 2005 E320 CDI. Like where to find a bluetooth adapter so I can set up my android phone. And what replacement cupholder insert to use because the OEM one isn't there. Extensive reading has already taught me about the SBC brake system (fantastic when it works, potentially death inducing when it stops working). Any other real issues with this platform?
So many questions, so much time...
By the way, that 300D is for sale. PM me if you have questions.
