Mercedes C Class 02 reg 2.0 Kompressor Petrol
esp, bas, abs lights on, Cruise control lost

Hi All

I have just joined the site so thanks for reading, I'm based in the UK, Portsmouth to be exact!

I have a Merc estate w203 2002 2.0 ltr petrol kompressor

ESP, BAS, ABS Lights on, lost cruise control, no power loss no limp mode car drives normally. Things I have tried so far:
1. Check brake light switch = No brake light switch = grrrr
2. Replaced brake pressure switch on master cylinder no difference
3. Turned off ESP turned steering wheel to full right lock and then left still lights on = even more grrrrr
4. Checked codes with diy code reader couple of old codes but nothing on esp so cleared all faults still nothing.

Any Ideas where I go next, besides mercedes!

I noticed accelerator sensor has been mentioned any views on this?

Thanks in advance Jim

If you can't find an Indy with applicable diagnostic equipment, keep putzing around, one of these months you will find the fault, then another month to put the car back together!

Well Plutoe, Where would be the fun in that? If we all went rushing to the diagnostic centres throwing cold hard earned cash around the moment something went wrong there would be no need for a site like this, thus depriving us all of your technical brilliance and insight! seriously though, I'm not at that stage yet but thanks for your input

ABS

When the ABS light is on the cruise will not work. Once the ABS is off you will get the cruise back. Check all your fuses and relays in all the fuse boxes. Then if you can scan the ABS system separately you may find the fault. Burnt motor etc. The ABS computer will not tell on itself so if the fuse is not blown you may require the ABS module / computer depending on the terms in your neck of the woods. A lot of dealers have a known good test module / computer they can install to verify before you spend the big bucks to replace it.

Before you hurt yourself, at least get the chassis codes read. Then you can spend the weekend putzing in the correct direction!

Valid point. One thing all these systems have in common and share is the ground circuits. There are quite a few ground connections to check and make sure none are corroded or broken off and have lost the ground.

ha ha ha thanks for the concern Plutoe, putzing is not a word we use in the UK but I like it. I spend a lot of time hurting myself generally on Harley's you may have heard of em. Not a sensor in sight thus anything like this leaves me swearing .......... a lot!

To finish off the above post it turned out to be the ABS sensor on the N/S front wheel. Had to take it to a mercedes specialist to find the problem. Thanks to Plutoe 350sl and RedGray for responding.
