2009 w204 aircon issue.
hi all. my w204 2009 c220 started playing up the other day... during the brief warm weather spell we had I was using my aircon pretty much 100%. I noticed that the air coming from the vents wasn't as cold as I usually was and planned to get it checked out... yesterday after reading lots on these forums I thought it must be low on gas. I am technically minded and have every tool needed to repair any thing on a mercedes and have always done work on my car and my 2 sprinter vans my self after experiencing some shabby work done my idiots in the past. aircon systems are something I've never had much experience with though as I have found they don't usually brake down on me. anyway. when I get in my car this morning I went to turn the aircon on and the light flashed a few times and went out ... I went to my local Halfords and bought a recharge canister and refill gauge/adaptor it top it up. checked my 2 vans which are a 2011 and a 2009 plate and the gauge shown 30psi and 35psi on the other which is normal. came to my car and connected the gauge and it shown 65psi plus which was in the danger zone... started the engine as instructions and watched the gauge and it didn't move much so turned the engine off again. obviously there was to much pressure in the system so released some using the refill trigger and gauge which I bought down to about 35psi. started the engine and the aircon light flashed again and went out and watch the gauge slowly rise to the danger zone again. does anyone know how/why this I happening before I take a gamble and and look for a specialist that isn't goin to rip me off? thankyou for taking the time to read my post.
