New to MB - Buying E400 - How to Sell New Wheels (with tires)

This is my first post, so forgive me if this question is not one for this forum. I have an order in for the new E400 Sedan with a build date of 11/28. I wanted to get the Night Package, and the only wheels that come with that package are the 18-inch AMG 5-spoke w/black accents. What I really want are the 19-inch AMG twin 5-spoke w/black accents - which actually are shown as an option on the MB website. My dealer is telling me that I can order the 19" wheels, but that I would not get any credit for the 18" wheels, and in fact, I would need to sell them myself.

So the questions: (1) Is there any reason why not to get the 19" wheels instead of the 18" (warranty, ride, etc.), and (2) does anyone know how to sell 4 brand new 18" AMG 5 spoke wheels with tires?

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the forum. The 19" are going to have a little less side wall so the ride will be a slight bit harsher. If you can order the 19's from the dealer then warranty should not be a problem. You can list the tires and wheels in the local paper, put them on ebay, craigslist or list them in the for sale section of this forum. Selling them shouldn't be a problem. You're probably not going to get what it costs to upgrade to the 19's but as they'll be new and the tires won't have any miles on them you should get a decent price. Also, see if the dealer will let you put a flyer up at the dealership to try to sell them.

Post them up on here or your local Craigslist. Don't expect to get enough to cover the upgrade, but they will sell.

The 19" wheels will ride a bit rougher than the 18" ones. It's noticeable, but not a huge difference. Depending on what the roads are like in your area it is easier to bend a 19" wheel due to having less sidewall.

Put your location in your profile.

Thanks. I'm hoping the dealer will just give me a break on the cost of the tires/install. I know I won't get as much as on the open market, but there is some value in not having to tote 4 wheels/tires home, post them and sell them locally or ship them.
