Long story short. I have a 2009 w211 and I purchased an HID KIT from XENON HID. The kit came with a bulb, canbus ballast and they recommended a relay harness.

If if I install the bulb and ballast directly to the factory low beam connector. They work okay. I haven’t seen them act up.

however when I install the relay harness they will flicker on and off.

The harness harnes relay connects to ballasts. And 1 factory adapter harness. Ground is on the left front strut tower and power 12v Is from front pre fuse box 12 v post. I have contacted xenon hid but they suck at responding.

i have read I may need to code for xenon lights via HID? But I don’t think there would need to be that much hassle.

If they work without the harness, then don’t use them. Relays are usually optional to pull steady power from battery.
