My name is Max and I just signed up because I'm on the hunt for an older AMG C class. I've test driven a couple C32s (one was fantastic, and the other was a heap) and right now am looking hard at a particular C55. I've mostly owned VWs in the past, into doing motor swaps and other modifications, and currently drive an R32. It's the first car I haven't felt the overwhelming urge to modify, and the first halfway civilized and grown up car I've owned. My father has been a Mercedes guy for a long time, and I've always liked them too, but it's not until recently that the bug really bit me and I started thinking seriously about getting one. I've been tempted by a CDI E class here and there, and a red C350 sport (man they look great in red!), but there's just something I love about the Hooligan-in-a-suit-and-tie factor of the AMGs. The W203 AMGs really seem to be the perfect gateway into the MB world for me.
Anyway, I'll probably have questions as my search for the right car continues. Really keeping my fingers crossed that the search ends with this latest C55 I'm looking at.
Is it bad form to sign up and introduce myself here before I actually own a Benz? If so, flame away - I deserve it.
A little bit about me, I just turned 40 (geez, how did that happen?), father of 3, senior software engineer & tech lead by day, amateur machinist and watchmaker in my spare time.

Well I ended up finding my w203 AMG! Got up at 1:30am Saturday, traveled to North Carolina by bus and plane, bought this 88,000 mile C32, and drove it 900 miles straight back home. Got back to my front door around 2:30am, just over 24 hours later. She needs a little love, but is a wonderful starting point that has already had a lot of work put into it by the previous owner. PO was great to deal with, and very accommodating. Facilitating a long distance car purchase isn't easy.
