Hello Everyone.
HD Tuning was started by Matt Bekam to provide premium engine calibrations for most European and luxury vehicles. Matt has been tuning vehicles for a decade and before branching out on his own was doing tuning for the likes of Powerchip, Evosport, Weistec Engineering, BBI Autosport, Brabus, and many more.
The HD moniker was appropriated because of the great detail Matt goes into to extract maximum power out of a vehicle while retaining reliability. We do not just change ignition timing and air fuel ratios, we go much deeper in the file to find hidden power in the form of "torque limits." Torque limits are how modern ECU's limit power and efficiency. A torque limit can be any limit on throttle, boost, timing, or fuel. The painstaking process of reverse engineering that HD undergoes for every new model includes purchasing Damos files from the manufacturer in order to define and scale the 8 megabytes+ of binary data in the current generation ECU's. Often times these map definitions are in automotive German and abbreviated, which is a difficult task in and of itself, but with these tools we are able to extract more power than the competition and do so safely on all fuel types regardless of mods.
