Hello All! Driving Package Question for years 2015 and 2016
Hello all! After a few years of getting great input here on mbworld I have finally joined. Being a new member please forgive my newbie mistakes.
I have been looking at the 2015 ML250 BlueTec and the 2016 GLE300d. The body equivalent of my prior 2013 ML350 BlueTec. Having most if not all the optional safety packages is a must for me. The problem I am having is not being able to find out if the 2015 and 2016 23P Driving packages are the same. I am considering two in particular. Looking at the VIN info of the 2015 ML and the 2016GLE both have the Distronic Plus code of 233, 237-Active Blind Spot Assist, 238- Active Lane Keeping Assist (FAP) and 23P-Driving Package. However the 2016 GLE has additional codes of 253-Rear End Collision Warning and Protection system,266-Distronic Plus Support, 268-Expanded Brake Assist (BAS+),269-Brake Assist Plus Cross Traffic (BASQ), 271-Autonomous Brake Intervention/Warn for Ped. Prot and 513- Traffic Sign Recognition. I have looked into several other 2015ML and 2016GLE's with Distronic and their VIN order info was a short list for 2015ML250 and a longer list for 2016GLE300d and just as exact as I have listed above as far as the safety features that is.. So I am wondering, is it possible they do have the same safety features and in 2016 MB decided to add more codes for a more thorough explanation of features on the VIN of the GLE, or if they significantly added more safety options in 2016? Lastly I had the lighting package on my 2013 ML and agree it is a MUST, however I have yet to find a used a used 2015ML250 or 2016GLE300d with it. SIgh....My MB service advisor said they have brighter headlights they can install that would bring it 80% as bright as the lighting package. Now... I don't know if they will be that bright and they won't be adaptive as my others were, but hopefully the Driving package safety features will offset me missing them.
