I recently purchased a 94 E300 turbo diesel. The previous owner was attempting to drill out two glow plugs that had broken off in the process of changing them. On the 3rd cylinder from the front, it appears that the seat came out and coolant filled the hole where the glow plug goes.

My question: Is the head cast so coolant can be in contact with the glow plug seat?
