C240 front sway bar bracket and bushing question

Hello Benz bros and sisters,

Re: 2004 C240 base model

I left took my front sway bar off the car to check out the sway bar bushings and replace the sway bar links. My question, which I have searched high and low for online- is regarding these sway bar bushings. They are the kind of bushings that are molded-on the front sway bar. I checked them and they and the bar look ok. No
w when I try to put the bar back on, the flat end of the bushings-these same bushings- will not lay up flat against the subframe of the car. I cannot force them to be flat either. What is going on? What happened? Is it supposed to be this way or do I have the wrong sway bar(from pictures I have seen on the internet it looks like the right bar.) Or should the whole assembly -links and bar- be reattached under load? Thank you

Thanks for welcoming me. As you can see I have been a member since 2013,
just too intimidated to post since you guys are all experts(at least to me!)
