In Praise of The Older Woman
My initial impressions were one of calm deliberate movements. A firm prod of the throttle is required to make her take notice, quite a contrast to our '16 Golf Sportwagen. However, once you get past the initial reticence, the old girl picks up her skirts and can dance! In a way, she reminds me of the '87 Porsche 924S I has 25 years ago. She is almost bored with what she is asked to do until you cross a certain threshold, then she acknowledges your participation and will show you of what she is capable. I have only driven the car with winter snow tires so far, and am looking forward to Spring for a chance to really push the chassis, but what I have seen so for indicates the limits are high and the break away is gradual. My kind of set up.
I have been lurking on this board for three months, looking for clues to the ownership experience and have used the resource to fix a sometimes non functioning mirror turn signal. Other odd things, I get a Check Engine light is I drive the car in "Comfort" mode, so Sport Mode it is! When the weather warms up, I will touch up the paint in a couple of spots where it was damaged and get some summer tires, perhaps on newer rims. For now, she feels better every day.
Thanks to all who have posted so much vital information regarding these cars.
Sorry, no pictures of the car, as yet.
Best
Les
