3rd Benz, but this last one's a rebuilt.. & I have a question
Just joined, looking to pick some brains and participate where I can. Prior MB's were a 2000 S430 & 2006 E350 - the S430 was flawless up to 150K, the E350 not so much. Anyway, the current ride is a 2011 C300 4Matic Sport with Luxury grill, 46K miles, rebuilt title, purchased for $5K. I've bought rebuilts before (but not a Benz) - I stay away from flood cars and any frame damaged or front collision with airbags deployed vehicles. This one was salvaged due to an insurance recovery, I have the "before" pics so no airbags deployed, etc. It needed new front brakes/rotors and the 17" rims have lots of road rash but otherwise so far, all looks OK. My question is twofold - for the 4Matic to operate properly, do the front/rears need to be staggered (different size width)? Secondly - what is the largest tire size I can run w/o a brake upgrade and also still meet all the clearances in the wheel well area? I've looked around and can't seem to find this info. Many thanks in advance for any/all replies.
