Hi everyone, my name is Ed. We have a 2013 E350 W212. We had some body work done on trunk by a mobile dent repair service. Fixed a 2" ding and broken emblem. He did a great job on the paint and body work. Only concern is that the lip of trunk on this model is not flat - rather it "crowns" dead center - where the trunk emblem was installed (see picture). I went to the dealer and purchased the factory replacement emblem for this vehicle; however, due to the crown effect, the emblem does not mount flush with the body. Basically the MBZ star is relatively flat on the back, yet the part of the trunk it mounts on is higher in the middle. Any thoughts how to fix this? The dealer told me to try bending the plastic star by hand before installing it, but the mobile dent repair service man told me that he does not recommend that because the emblem is a rigid plastic and may break. Does anyone out there have suggestions for how to make the plastic star emblem sit flush against the trunk (as it did originally)?

welcome Try building a mound on a flat surface. Place emblem on mound then keep adding weight on top of the emblem. May take a few days but the emblem will gradually bend in middle. Otherwise buy an after market emblem and try bending with your hands. If it brakes you are not out a lot of money.
