C-300 CRANK CASE VENTILATION VALVE (ENGINE) PROBLEMS
I own a 2016 C-300 that I bought brand new. As of today, I have driven 43000 kilometres. I carried out regularly-scheduled maintenance on the vehicle (at the Benz dealership) and all maintenance is up-to-date. The vehicle warranty expired December 2019. Just 4 days ago, the check engine light came up. I drove it to the dealership and paid $213 for a diagnosis. I was told the crank case ventilation valve is stuck and needs to be replaced at a whooping cost of $2360 for parts and labour. I know enough about repairs at dealerships to not do it there so I called OK Tire and they'd fix it (parts and labour) for a little under $1400. OK Tire also told me that this is a common issue they've seen with C-300s of the same vintage as mine. Can forum members with similar vehicles confirm this please? The only reason I bought a Mercedes Benz is because I have always heard that the engines are durable with regular maintenance. I did not expect to start having engine problems less than a year from when the vehicle is out of warranty and for a vehicle under 60000 kilometres. It is very disappointing and has soured my view of the company.
Thank you for any insights or directions you can share.
