Specifically regarding 204 chassis, 250 is 1.8L turbo I4 and 300 is either 3.0L M272 V6 or 3.5L M276 V6. These would not be cross compatible.
Exactly how long did you forget to change the oil? Did the car not warn you at every start? This is the second W204 C250 on the forum where I've seen an owner say they forgot to change the oil to the point of destruction.. seems like the other one went some 50,000 miles.
It's tough for most of us to imagine this scenario.
