Bmw X5, BMW X3 and BMW 325i.
Hi! Switching from BMW

Hello to everyone. I want to introduce myself, i'm going to start with my life before moving to US. When i got my first drivers licence, the car that i was driving was Mercedes-Benz w124 250d pre-facelift 1989 year. It had more than 800.000 kilometers on original engine. That was my first love, and to this day i really like that car. Since moving to US somehow i only owned BMWs, now i have BMW X3 with 3.0 turbo engine with 400hp (it's stage 2+). It's really interesting and fast small suv. My wife drives bmw x5. All of our cars have more than 100k miles and we never had major problems. To be honest i'm really satisfied with them. The problem came when i drove my friend's MB c63 amg 2010 year. Now i can't forget the feeling and the sound of that naturally aspirated v8. I was looking at BMW's but all of them were turbocharged.Bmw X3M its too expensive and turbo, X5M are all turbocharged, V8 engines on x5 without turbo are pretty slow with ~350hp. So bmw is off the list for now. What i really really like is MB ML63 amg with M156 engine in it. I really like how it drives and feels. I don't like how the newer cars went to turbocharged engines. After some research i found about their weak spots. The concern that i have is the reliability. Are the headbolts really an issue on these engines? Is it really expensive to repair? Or the camshafts? The lifters? I ussually work on my cars, is this engine easy to work on? Thank you.

Hi and welcome to MBWorld!

This is a great introduction!

All that is missing is a photo of your new Mercedes when it is in your garage!
Once you have decided on one model visit the forum in the community that matches. There, your questions will be answered.

Welcome. The W124 is a great first MB that's still much loved these many years later by lots of owners. I would suggest you ask your question in the section of the forum that's specifically for the ML 63AMG with the 156 engine. There will be owners in that section of the exact MB you're looking at and they'll be more than glad to help you. Once you've made your purchase, come back and post some pictures.
