Greetings from Southern Arizona. In the process of buying our first Mercedes Benz. 2003 SL500 with 54,000 miles. It will be Wife's toy but I'll get to drive it as well. She's not much on forums so I'll take the lead and try and learn about the car as we go. We have been Corvette people since 1970 and still have my toy 2017 Grand Sport Convertible at our home in Calgary Alberta. We drove it back and forth to our winter home in Tucson but with COVID and the border closed we'll fly back and forth and have a toy at each end. We're supposed to close the deal and pick it up later today and once we do I'll post a picture. Any suggestions on issues to check for before we hand over a check?
Cheers,
Bob

Hi Bob!

Great introduction!

A very good place to start is the SL R(230) forum linked below. We have many very knowledgeable owners willing to share what they have learned. Good luck!

Finally got some decent pictures of the new to us car. After a couple days of detailing and deep cleaning I'm more impressed than ever that we have a winner. The only things I need to address are the center armrest lid latch and strut. I will also talk to the dealer about getting keyless go cards but might pass on that if it gets stupid expensive or complicated.
