Data plate issue: 280C or 250/8?

Data plate issue: 280C or 250/8?
Have a '73 280C with data card (original "Farhzeug Daten" card) and engine data plate matching. Both indicate a VIN for a 1973 280C W114-073. All VIN numbers on vehicle match. But plate on the inside driver's side door post which has the same info also says "250/8" pre-printed on the plate. Not sure what this means. I know I have a six banger and everything else matches except this plate. Any ideas why?
