Lexus ISF owner, thinking about buying 2014 E63 AMG S Wagon... need some feedback
I currently own a 2008 ISF that I have had for the last 4 years and I still love it so much, but living in Canada means that my ISF is undriveable for at least 6 months/year (RWD and pretty low car). I saw a nice 2014 E63 AMG S Wagon for sale, it has about 38k miles on it and the asked price is about 44k USD. This car would be nice because I would be able to keep it all year with the awd, and I probably would still keep my current winter car too for the long drives i might have to do for my job (gaz is so expensive over here in canada...)
I'm stiIl concerned tho because of the past experience I've had with german cars (my 06 BMW 330xi spent more time being repaired than driven over 6 years...) and that was the reason i decided to get a lexus instead for their top notch reliability (never had any issues with my isf, none at all). I know most people here would probably be biased about MB vs Lexus vs BMW, but I would definitely like to have some feedback from other owners and maybe some people that made the switch from a lexus like i might do, I'm just scared of regretting making the move and ending up wasting all my money on fixing my car like i had to do with my previous bmw, ISF are rare as hell and I might never be able to find another one if I end up switching and regretting it...
Does the E63 from these years have any known issues that I might need to put my attention on before buying?
Also, what is the general feel of the E63 AMG S Wagon compared to the ISF? I know the MB is a lot more powerful and has a lot more torque, but does it have a good RAW driver feeling like the isf or is it completely different?
Thank you guys
I can't imagine the W212 platform being "raw" as you describe it, regardless of trim level. An IS350 drives absolutely nothing like an E350, for example. But the 2014s should be as reliable as Mercedes is going to get.. that is to say, it will never be a Lexus, but it's pretty good and most people find it to be worth the extra cost.
These are very different cars. I feel like there's a good chance you'll miss the IS-F since you seem fond of it. But you could always give the E63 a go and remember that the IS500 F-Sport is coming.
