My E320 W210 saloon 1998

Hello team,
I am looking for some advice/guidance please...
The engine in my car is making what I can only describe as a “whooshing”noise when I start up and drive under acceleration.
The noise I can best mention as being very similar to that of a blown turbo charger that I experienced in previous diesel cars that I’ve owned (eg Peugeot models etc...).
In general the car is running fine and there are no warning lights coming on to indicate any engine management problems.
The noise has been intermittent but now appears to be constant.
I had my mechanic check the engine over during the intermittent phase and as is typical we couldn’t find anything obvious.
I would appreciate any input from your esteemed expertise that might help me solve this problem!
Many thanks in advance of your reply...
Best regards,John F Spencer aka BHOYSfan...
