Is my car totaled?

I just decided to get some insight if my car is totaled, i’ve had it for less than a year and i’m freaking out that the estimate is going to be more than the value of the car i drive a 2017 C300 and this just happened so i’m waiting for my adjuster to contact me about the estimate.

Hi,

Welcome and thank you for posting!
It is going to be very difficult to offer you a opinion without a detailed inventory of parts and body work needed. Good luck!

Bob

At first look, without all the information it does not look totaled. Looks like it can be repaired. Unless of course there is extensive damage under it all.

Welcome sorry to see the damage to me it does not look totaled. If it runs good then it would be worth fixing.

Welcome. So sorry about the accident and glad you weren't hurt. I suggest you post your question in the W205 section of the forum where mechanical questions for your specific model are handled.

Is it totalled?

Unfortunately it up to the adjuster and the insurance company. There are many factors involved. How much is the car worth. What is the mileage.how much is owed. Then how badly damaged is the suspension, and possibly the frame. The car looks repairable, but parts are not cheap. I fixed my own after a worse wreck, but we also paid and fixed it ourselves. I would remain hopeful. To me its definitely worth fixing from what I can see here. Its really all the small parts that nickel and dime you. I wish you the very best of luck on you getting it back in shape.

If it was your fault (you ran into someone else) I would say they are going to fix it and give it back to you. If someone ran into you keep in mind you don't have to take the car back. I have purchased and sold several "salvaged" cars from insurance companies in the past and also have a legal background. Basically if you are in an accident then the car will have 20-30% LESS value then a car that was never in an accident. As a result when you try and sale or trade the car in you obviously won't get as much as a car that has never been in an accident. This is a loss in value that you now have to deal with. If it wasn't your fault then you can't be forced to take the care back and forced to take a huge loss of value. If someone ran into you the other guys insurance company has to take the loss and pay you out for the fair market value of the car. If they try and force you to take the car back a simply representation letter from counsel should quickly change their mind.
