How to repair trunk opening and closing on 2007 CLS63 AMG
This is a set of pics to show how to repair a trunk lid that initially won't shut when pushing the button on the drivers door, or the button on the lid, and then eventually, stop working at all and stays open. This is due to 2 small wires on the driver side, left side, trunk lid hinge area that break due to the trunk lid opening closing thousands of times. I am posting this further clarification due to a post helping me so much and this is my first of many posts in the future to try to help others as much as they have helped me. The instant I connected the 2 brown wires back together, the lights on the trunk lid came back on and the trunk would now close. The opening wasn't solved yet but after starting the engine and letting it run, that was solved and the opening of the trunk worked. Here are the repaired wires back in place and note as the trunk lid goes up and down, that kink or "L" shape the wires are forced to take gets smaller and larger and back and forth a bunch of times and the wires break. Note now the longer wires and the connecting of the 2 types of brown factory wires. One is fat and the other is skinny so you can see which one to attach to the other. I spliced in some other wires since the existing wires were too short. I put yellow paper behind pics to make easier to view by you. This post is to solve the issue of the trunk opening partially and then not at all and the solution. Note that the 2 brown wires are broken that are in the group just next to the driver side trunk hinge mechanism. 2007 Mercedes CLS63 AMG with 77k miles, tan leather, a blast to drive on weekends.
