Not completely new.....been an member since 2016.....not posted since I sold my Merc in about 2018....so I thought Id start again so here goes....!

HI....I'm Dean....if you frequent any other forums you might know me as Alfaitalia due to my obsession with the marque (I'm also half Italian!.....but born and raised in the UK) ....I had four so far and an driving one now.
......but....I'm looking to get a C63 W204 shape saloon. I used to do lots of miles but as 90 percent of my miles is now done in company vans and pick up trucks the scary C63 mpg is far less of an issue. I've looked at a few (my budget means it will be an early-ish one). I was looking at getting an early ALFA Giulia Quadrifoglio but even as a hardcore ALFA fan the expensive problems showing up on the earlier ones are hard to ignore. Also the way things are going this could be my last chance to own a NA V8 (had one before but only a 4.2 V8 Audi A8) before they price us off the road.....I also like the thought that every time I start my car somewhere in the World a Panda dies!!!

This will not be my first Merc....my last was a 2002 CLK200K....great build quality, solid reliability.....but God it was boring....too slow and not even enough power to get the rears moving unless it was tipping down....not helped by the wide AMG wheel/tyres put on by the previous owner. (Sorry if you own one but not the car for me!) My wife drives a W169 A Class at the moment, had a SLK230K before that and is looking to change to a W177 shape A class now....something with a bit more go than her A170....even though its a 56 plate, its mint and only about 60k miles!

Hopefully I will find a bit of info on here to help me with my purchase and I look forward to helping out where I can.....although I'm a sales manager at a caravan dealer at the moment I've also been a car mechanic and a sales manager at an Audi VW dealer....so I know a bit about cars!! I have about 7000 posts on the ALFA forum, about 6k on the Jeep forum plus a few on various other car/bike forums.

By the way does anyone know how to change your user name.....?? Cant see how in the control panel. Want to use a C63 based one or Alfaitalia so I only have one to remember!!

I probably should mention that I'm from England. I live in a place called Bognor Regis on the central South Coast....just East of the Isle of Wight if you feel the urge to Google map it!!

Welcome Dean
OMG an Alfa fan, it's been a long time (40 years) since I owned and Alfa, but don't think the feeling every goes away. had a 72 Berlina - with dual carbs. - totaled when I got rear ended, and a 73 Spyder with AC. Can still smell the Castor 5w - 50 ! Old Alfa's only ran when you were nice to it or when it wanted to.

good luck finding your Merc.

Thanks all!

One issue I'm having is finding one that's not a black leather interior. Only seen a couple, one in cream and one in red....I've got black leather in my current car but the tan leather (with red paint) in the one before that made such a difference to how light and airy the car felt. My ideal would be gunmetal grey paint with red skin....only seen one like that and it was a coupe....I like the coupe shape but a saloon is a much more practical choice for me....my son finds the coupe a bit tight in the rear seats as I tend to drive with the seat quite far back.
I might have to go with black as the ratio of black to others seems about 99 to 1!!

You might also try posting your search in the C63 section of the forum for your search. The sections will vary depending on the year you're looking for but they'll be actual C63 owners who can help you with advise.
