Sl 63 not engaging gears

I have an sl63 2013 amg. When driving, the car would not respond to acceleration and I have to pull off the road and then it would not take gears. It shifts normally but would not go forward nor reverse. This started when I stopped at the traffic lights when I wanted to move it would not take gears. When I switched it off and on again it engaged and would not function optimally. The mechanic I took it to said he topped up gear oil and it worked for one day and its back to not taking gears. Any advice would be appreciated.
