Video Review of MidcityEngineering Video in Motion w221

Short review and assessment of my VIM in my w221.

All command system functionality is retained, i.e. Navigation works great with this installed:

I dont know wich one you have but The one that works perfectly is from www.mods4cars.com and it is $189 and ALL features work when installed and activated. Have in my car since I bought it. (If you trust me these days? )

thanks Chris...actually i found out that my unit nav will work if I put in my voice commands..so i think it may have something to do with my dvd map update for 2012...will upgrading the dvd making saved addresses not work and nav gives a message "No Route".

However if I put that address in via voice command nav will route me correctly..strange..is this a nav update problem?

Thanks.

I had these before when they had a promotion way back, and the unit did not work and I had to make a return. I guess they have fixed the problem since it's working on your car?

I noticed that there could be a difference in Euro-spec and US-spec comand. (which would not surprise me)

Jadeethan said in his review he only has to put the car in drive for the vim to kick in when enabled.

I can put in drive then slowly go.. it will still show the video or DVB-T for that matter, but above 2 miles or so, it gives this safety warning .

I have the latest of telematics and maps..But, yes I have the euro version of comand. But I have never heard that they had any problems with these.

Ok so for some reason the Nav doesn't like previous destinations. So for the previous destinations that give "no route" I deleted them and reentered them in and now they work fine. Rather strange behavior if you ask me. I just updated to 2012 gps maps so maybe that was the problem.

Thanks for watching my video hope you all find it helpful...

Question 2009 s550 midcity's w221 vim installation question

I would like to know which one of the 3 blue connectors/w yellow wires is the radio plug. i am trying to install a w221 vim from midcity. The instructions per their website is trial by error to determine correct plug ,but i would like to know the exact one . My CAN DISTRIBUTOR PANEL looks slightly different from the instructions. For the 2009 MBS550, DO I NEED TO GO BEHIND RADIO FOR THIS INSTALL

So I have a 2013 S550. Can anyone verify if this will work and if so, who should I buy from? Also interested in any recommendations for competent installers in the Boca Raton, FL area that have done this work.

Speak to any installer and of course they're going to tell you they're the best. I'm interested in real-world experience. I have a ton of work to do to the car.

Laser Jammers (Active Diode Type [not LED]), Video In Motion, Custom Radar detector, and some other goodies I designed for my personal use.

Cheers!

The vim install is simple, just follow the instructions. I promise you, if you have a 4th grade reading and comprehension ability you can do it. The reason I know this, is that my boy has done it following the MidCity directions while in the 4th grade!

If you need someone in Boca to handle it, give derek@nav-tv.com a jingle. As for the radar detector, if you have a Distronic Plus vehicle the MidCity engineering piece is your only option to keep any chance of k band use, however it kills a lot of the spectrum of the k band so you have to think is it really worth it as it is a false sense of security. I built an interface back in the day that removes the D+ and allows the use of the k band via a push button switch. It allows the use of the D+ when you want or the k band sensitivity... definitely a big trade off. The laser diode system from laser interceptor seems to get great reviews.

Daytona was pretty lame when we were down there, Orlando on the other hand is pretty nice, I have a place in Orlando, and with Disney, there is always something to do.

coming to Orlando?

I am interested in buying the VIM module. Is $649.00 the best price? Seems aggressive.

Naviks video in motion

The mid city module is over $600. The Naviks module is $200. What's the difference between the two???

Assuming the vehicle already has a DVD player and back up camera, and all you are looking to do is add video in motion, to clarify.

Thank you in advance
