No Carbon/piano black trim until January

Got an email from my dealer today. Ordered an s63 a couple weeks ago and got a production date of Nov 20. Unfortunately the build sheet showed burl walnut instead of carbon/piano black like I chose.

Dealer called MB and said there are build restrictions on the carbon/piano trim. So it's either burl or wait for a January allocation. Really disappointing but not much I can do

Anyone else order carbon/piano trim for their s-class and hear the same?

I would wait. Personally I hate the burl. It has been a staple for so long on MBs that it needs to go away.

Really wish they did a matte walnut.

I'm more concerned about the fact that they changed your order and didn't tell you. They just let you find it out via the build sheet.

If you order a car a certain way, that would presume you want the car that way and anything else is unacceptable. It doesn't matter if it is a $12K Hyundai or a $120K Mercedes.

Agree completely. If they just said that the carbon/piano trim wouldn't be available until January without giving me a Nov allocation but a different trim I would have been fine. I don't like that they change an order and say oh by the way the trim you chose isn't available so we will give you the burl (default) interior.

I don't know if I'm in the minority but I ordered a g63 last year with magno night exterior but when the car arrived it was regular black. MB said it was a glitch. But nobody caught it along the way. It was on the boat before anyone noticed. I don't know if its just my bad luck but two cars ordered and two issues.

I agree: changes should notify the customer: that 'reserves the right to make changes' sentiment is BS!!!!!!!!!!
do other lux makers do this to customers too????
anything over 100K should come with some assurances

In my experience MB would not change the order like that. I have had few orders in the past that had 1 or 2 items with delayed availability and every time the production date was pushed back. MB will usually notify the dealer of delayed items and its up to the dealer after that. If the dealer keeps the order as is then the production will be delayed. If your dealer changed the trim to something that wasnt delayed then the car will be produced when its scheduled.
Most of the dealers will not give you the option and tell you that it was changed by MB.

I have a S550 on order that has 811 - Burmester High End Audio was on the delayed list. My sales associate notified me and I decided to keep it and wait. The production date was hence changed twice by MB. If I deleted that option then they would have produced the car back in August.

Same dealer but for what it's worth they made it right for the g63. They gave me the regular black g63 and I drove it until the magno came in and they just swapped it out with no depreciation. I just paid for the price difference between regular paint and magno. So I have no reason to think its their fault.

In this case I noticed it on the build sheet with the build date and noticed the trim code being different. Spoke with the owner and he called MB and was given that info.

If anyone's interested. No black poplar trim for November allocation either.

There are sometimes delays with some options when new cars are launched, like in this case with the carbon. The paint issue thought sounds like someone at the dealer screwed up. The factory wouldn't do that with the paint, and it's not like there are restrictions on paint.

Going to confirm with dealer in the AM but appears exclusively nappa (quilted pattern) amd red calipers also aren't available on the November build. Those were removed from my build sheet.

Coming to the realization I won't get the car i want until February

I am waiting for the Designo interiors to come out. They said the beginning of calendar year 2014 but now I hear that each color may be coming out over time starting with Mystic Red. Hope my SA is wrong.

I am doing Mocha Black and Auburn Brown.
