not trying to inflame, i can't afford it, but...
the daimler-renault-nissan partnership is really starting to become visible in production. does it remind anyone else of a g37? the laguna coupe is really obvious.

Guess what? Its a coupe!
Are we going to name every single car with 2 doors, 4 wheels, and a sloping roof line and say that it looks like it?
#55
It seems like the more we chase ever higher fuel economy standards that we end up with all cars looking more like each other as aerodynamics force all manufacturers to the same basic shape to reduce drag.

Awesome full glass roof!
"The S-Class Coupé features a panoramic roof extending over two-thirds of the entire vehicle roof; with a surface area of around 1.32 m2, it appears almost 150 percent larger than on the predecessor model. MAGIC SKY CONTROL makes it possible to switch the transparency of the roof at the push of a button, from light to dark. When light, the roof is almost completely transparent and allows an open-air experience, even in the coldest weather. When dark, light transmission i.e. the proportion of outside light that is allowed through into the interior, is reduced to less than 1% and thus effectively diminishes heating up of the vehicle."
The single piece of SPD-SmartGlass that makes up the impressive MAGIC SKY CONTROL panoramic roof is the largest piece of smart glass to be put into serial production to date in the automotive industry. It is three times larger than the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roofs that are currently offered. This milestone continues the growth in the use of SPD-SmartGlass in the automotive, aircraft, yachting, architectural and museum industries, which has made SPD-SmartGlass the best selling and most widely available smart window in the world."
The MAGIC SKY CONTROL feature uses patented SPD-SmartGlass technology developed by Research Frontiers to turn the roof transparent by electrically aligning tiny particles in a thin film within the glass. With the touch of a button, drivers and passengers can instantly change the tint of their roof to help keep out harsh sunlight and heat, and create an open-air feeling even when the sunroof is closed. Glass or plastic using Research Frontiers' patented SPD-SmartGlass technology effectively blocks UV and infrared rays in either mode, helping keep the cabin cooler, and protecting passengers and interiors. These benefits become even more important when a car uses large surface areas of glass, such as the panoramic roofs on the new S-Class, especially in warm climates.
Mercedes-Benz reported that the use of SPD-SmartGlass significantly reduces the temperature inside the vehicle by up to 18ºF/10ºC. This increases passenger comfort and reduces air conditioning loads, thereby saving fuel and reducing CO2 emissions.

Ok, now this is something cool. It's been overshadowed by the Swarovski crystals. I bet we see this in the s class in 3-4 years. Ever wonder why your current pano roof is all glass on the outside, but from inside, you only have two small windows? This is how it was meant to be "The S-Class Coupé features a panoramic roof extending over two-thirds of the entire vehicle roof; with a surface area of around 1.32 m2, it appears almost 150 percent larger than on the predecessor model. These signature blocks are getting to me the majority of the content on any one page. I will just ignore but I wonder if we could agree to keep it down to one car pic and one supermodel? Anything else is just ostentatious.

I think it looks gorgeous and breathtaking. To my eyes it doesn't resemble anything else.
This is one car I cannot wait to experience in person.

I can't wait to see this car in person. Mb just posted this picture on their Facebook and its the only one I don't like. Out of all the ones to show, this just looks ordinary.

Love the lines..so far the most elegant sport package. As Leto states, a must have for the coupe

I'm sure it's just that one angle. It just reminded me g37'ish, old school Lincoln Mark VIII rear. I want to see "real" amateur photos of this car. In the moment, real life pics

The more I see this car, the bigger the identity crisis I notice. That rear is just wtf, I don't know what they were thinking. Not only does it look un-like Mercedes, but it doesn't even look like a good interpretation of some of the cars it draws.... "inspiration" from.

You can tell from the vast disparities in the pics that this is a car that has tremendous depth and 3D, thus making it a definite in-person car. The pics are flattening its curves a great deal. When we see it in person, our eyes are gonna light up.....

The rear of the W216 I think was/is quite bland and lacking in presence as well, but more elegant than this one. This one just doesn't make sense nor does it evoke Mercedes at all, and it's so clunky and squared off compared to the rest of the car. It looks more like a VAG rear to me (facelift CC-ish), a little Renault and the most shameful of them all.... a little of the sacred 991 Porsche seems to be attempted. M-B, how dare!
