IS There a Spare Tire WELL in the Current S550?

If it has been mentioned in the threads on RFT, I must have missed it. I know the area is used for electronics, but is there an actual spare tire WELL area under the trunk mat of the current S550?

There is an area under the lid in the trunk, but a tire on a wheel will not fit.

So, you are left with three possibilities:
1) put the tire in the trunk using up valuable luggage space,
2) put the tire in the back seat using up valuable passenger space,
3) put the tire on the roof, ruining the looks and aerodynamics,

Of course Mercedes could pull this from their own old playbook, 1930s had the spare on the back or on the side running boards.

Correct, no spares. Non AMG and S600 19 inch get run flats and AMG and S600 20 inch get the spray can.

The lack of spare tire (plus diminished ride quality with RFTs) is why I went with a custom-order E350 instead on an S550 or E250.

I know they say you can drive xx miles @ xx mph, but I've had times when I'm so far out in the boonies for work that there's no Mercedes dealer within that range and no cell coverage. Literally, 2-way radios & satellite phones were the only options. In such case, I want the spare. Especially when it happens at 2am. I speak from experience, and had a full-size spare, so it was a minor inconvenience.
