What do you all think of the W222 S600 (non-Maybach)? S-Class poll
Just curious if there's anyone on here that would buy this car? I feel like it's going to be a tough sell for Mercedes with the more exciting S63 and S65 offerings and of course the Maybach S600 overshadowing it.
I personally like its sleeper style...Mercedes already axed the S600 coupe and the SL600 a while back. It's almost as if they are leaving the S600 sedan as a tribute to the 600 nameplate...perhaps they don't plan on making many of them. A Benz dealer in NY has had a regular S600 emerald green edition on the floor for months....in all fairness its green with bright green piping inside....
Money no object, which sedan would you choose:
S550 Plugin Hybrid
S550
S600
S63
S65
Maybach S600

here in the US I can't see the point of getting anything more capable than the S550, no where to use it, and it's interior is not much different from the pricier versions

I own one, its a great car.
I did not want a S65 as it is too loud
I did not want a S63 as it is too loud and not refined line the S600
I would/did not want a Maybach as those are more for people riding in the back seat.
Some of us just like a nice smooth V12 purring along.....

If you're statement holds true, Germany should be the only place where you'd see S63s, 65s and 600s.
You're right about the interior though, its disappointing that you can equip a 550 with the same interior as a 600. It didn't used to be like that.

For me:
S600
G63

2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
It has long been a fact that the architecture of a V12 layout results in ultra smooth performance, but compared to modern V8's, such as in the current S550, I don't know that the difference is even noticeable.
A few weeks after taking delivery of my 2015 S550 sedan, I test drove a new Maybach. It was more than just around the block, I drove it several miles. Being someone who is obsessed with quietness, smoothness & comfort, I wanted to compare those factors to my car and I must tell you that the V12 did not impress me. The car drove very nicely, but I did not feel that the V12 gave the car anymore noticeable smoothness. In fact, this particular Maybach that I drove had a pronounced "whining" sound at low speeds, a noise my V8 does not make. As for smoothness of ride, I've covered that previously, as the 20" run flats on the Maybach could not hold a candle to my 18" Serenity Plus conventional tires.
My feeling is that the standard S600 just doesn't offer much of anything to the purchaser for the $30K+ premium it costs. And, if we are talking leasing, you could have a loaded S550 and a new GLE SUV for about the same monthly payment as a new S600.
It's just my opinion, but compared to the S550, I see virtually no reason to go for the V12.

People who haven't owned a 600 will never understand how much finer it is than a 550. That is why I will own my CL 600 for eternity. When they do a restyle for 2017 on the S sedan and hopefully the Coupe, they will offer a 600 version for the coupe. The 600 line is in a class all its own. The Maybach is really a magnificent machine, if you look at how the body lines and greenhouse makes the car look so spectacular. Alas, the Maybach is really for someone who has a driver.

S600. A V12 engine is just amazing. Interior can be just as nice as any other 222 S Class if you get all the options.
Designo White over the nut brown nappa leather. It is to die for.
I see no need for me to own a AMG S Class.

I totally agree with you! I LOVE the W221 S600 Designo from 10-13. They are INSANELY magnificent!!!!!! Esp. the Designo Platinum with the Porcelain interior or Mystic Red with Porcelain or Mystic red leather, or Capri Blue with Porcelain. I love the contrasting colors, personally.

My family lives in Clearwater, we are the largest high end home builders in the country. I personally live on the West Coast. I couldn't live with the humidity and the storms. That's why I can have fine cars and keep them fine. It hardly rains here and we have NO weather issues.
