What are your thoughts of this situation?
Basically, my current W221 S63 was gifted to me from my mom as a graduation gift (it was on sale b/c of the pre W222 announcement as an fyi). While I really love this vehicle, the W222 facelift is also a great vehicle.
While she hasn't brought up the notion of replacing this vehicle or upgrading it for me, do you guys think it would be a bad idea to suggest upgrading to the W222?
What are your thoughts? Should I just stick with my current vehicle until I can just get the next one on my own means?

Suggest you acquire your desired car the old fashioned way - work for it.

Why would you think we would have the answers to your families financial situation? And, at some point, grow up and be your own person both financially and in making decisions. Don’t leave it up to an Internet forum.
Best of luck to you in life!

My apologies for the way this thread came about.
What I meant was that given that this was a gift, do all of you think it would not be a good idea to sell the vehicle and get something else.

Are you gonna keep it forever? If not, sell it and get a new one. There are plenty of practical reasons such as: reliability, safety, technology, performance ...
I can imagine that I, as a parent would be happy if I’d just set a direction for my kid and it would enfold correctly by itself further.
It would be wrong to sell your dad’s watch. But a car? Come on .. if you can, get a FL W222 S63!!!
Remember, if you are happy, your mum will be happy.

Your mother has put you in a situation where you can have a nice car that will last for a very long time.
The way you pay here back is to drive the car for a long time, and stick enough money in the bank so that as the car near the end of its life, you can pay for a new 223 (or whatever) and never have to pay interest on that car (either.)
Your mom has but you at the head of the line, do your part to stay there.

The key words here are "mom", "graduation" and "gifted".

It's not a perfume nor any disposable item when it's due .It's a car and a top end vehicle but nothing is meant to last forever and to make matters worse any car will get aged regardless of how it's been treated .I don't know if it would hurt your mom's feelings to trade it for something else you would appreciate more but I would stick to what I have unless she had asked me if I want a newer car but I wouldn't expect it .Even if I would go for any trade I would let her know this and do this with my own money otherwise I would just gladly stick to what I have

sell it while its worth something and put the $ down on an apartment. Then in 4 years when the apt has doubled and the s63 is wrth 25k buy one back and have a place to live.
