Dude there is no official press release on the CLS53 yet, so yes it is speculation on your part about what the CLS53 will have. We know what the S500 has already. Sorry if you're confused about the HP ratings. 429hp is the same 435hp converted.

Here is what I was looking at, and I'm so very sorry you had so much difficulty grasping it:
According to press reports so far, the CLS53 has a 50kW electric motor, while the S500 has a 16kW electric motor.
And yet, according to the same sources, the total output of the CLS53 is about the same as the ICE portion alone of the S500.
Ergo, if the above press reports are correct, the I6 in the CLS53 is lower output than the one in the S500.
The above is what YOU are "confused" about.
If you're still having difficulty grasping this, this article https://www.motor1.com/news/222922/m...-53-confirmed/ says the CLS53 "will use AMG’s 3.0-litre straight-six engine...in conjunction with a 50kW electric motor to produce a total of 429bhp."
Whereas, the German MB site lists output for the S500 output as 435PS from its I6, plus 22PS form its 16kW electric motor.
So, if press reports are to be believed, the CLS53 uses a more powerful electric motor (50kW) to reach total output that the ICE I6 alone can reach in the S500. Ergo, the I6 in the CLS53 would be lower power than the one in the S500.
If you still can't understand, then I give up, end of discussion as far as I'm concerned.

What's going on with the Mercedes-Benz Designers ? Are they not getting their pay check for their hard work or Mercedes-Benz has been too frugal in payments ?
