So, I'm not clear on this. Are we saying that there is a possible problem with the 2018-1 or 2018-2 cars?

Well, SL...that’s actually very encouraging news. Maybe this sound penetration problem is specific to my 560 and can be fixed or replaced with another vehicle.
Many thanks for doing this!

Just checked my final build sheet. Listed as 20181 S560V - looks like I have a Series 1 car...How can we find out if the rumor about the Series1 cars having pano roof issues is true!
Thanks again for you efforts on this. I am quite miserable...

HSCLA,
A few days ago, I inquired for you on another forum, posing the question "Those who own/owned, or have tested, both the FL and 2014-17 pre-FL W222, do you think there is any difference in noise intrusion into the cabin? There is a fellow on another forum who has that complaint." and the 2 replies so far are "I can't remember noticing any difference." and "No difference. Except the new V8 is a little bit smoother."

Streamliner advises there is a rumor circulating that the 1st release 2018 S Class cars (20181 or 2018-1) which my car is one of, have an issue with the pano roofs. I’m planning to drive multiple cars today and will report back.

I just drove the 2018 S560 that I ordered. Took it up on the freeway and it was as quiet as my 2015. If the dealer sweetens the deal a bit, I hope to bring it home tomorrow.

Took delivery this afternoon. The weather here in OC was blustery, with pretty strong winds. I drove home along the coast. I could occasionally hear the wind, but the car still felt at least as quiet as my 2015. My first impression is that there is more insulation at the firewall, as engine sounds do not appear to enter the cabin as much as in my 2015. There is a very faint whine, which may be either the engine or transmission. As these cars become more and more “silent,” even the most faint sounds become noticeable. Another “first world problem.”

Thursday I drove a 2018 560, new 2017 S63 and new 2017 Maybach. All 3 were notably quieter than my 560.
The Maybach was SILENT. Loved it. The S63 was great at unwanted noise intrusion yet had all the great AMG sounds.
Working numbers on both 2017 cars since I can’t decide which I’d enjoy more. Leaning toward the S63...but that Maybach is awesome. Just a little concerned about the increased length for SF city parking, etc. Meeting factory engineer on Tuesday. Will be interesting to see how this matter resolves.

Congrats on you new 560. Glad you find it quiet. Gives me hope my 560 can be fixed although after driving a couple of 2017 cars, I could. E very happy with either one.

Good input from someone who owns a 222 S63. The Maybach was SO quiet! Especially after the noise issues I'm dealing with in my 560.
First time I ever drove one. Surprisingly, it was quick enough as well. Thought it would be sluggish - I didn't experience it. Just a tick slower than a 550/560. If MB would take back my 560, I'd buy it immediately.

OK...so while I'm complaining about noise in my 560...I'm noticing an electro / mechanical sound when coming to a stop I never heard in my 15 S550. its like a fan running / seat motor, etc (but I have nothing running except HVAC in manual mode - no seat massage, no seat cooling, etc.) As I come to a stop, it turns off...don't really notice it coming back on again, but when I stop again, it turns off again and goes silent.
Anyone observing this? Geez, I just want to use this car and stop having all these bizarre weird issues!!! I so miss my No Drama S550!

Have an appointment w/ the MB regional engineer at the dealership tomorrow. I'll also be driving another 560. My strong preference is to have MB fix this car...this car is what I spec'd out and ordered. If they can't fix it and / or tell me "car is within specifications" or "Can't verify customer complaint", etc...guess I'll find out what being an MB "Diamond Rated Customer" actually means...
