Favorite Touch pad to access front camera?
Does anyone know if the touch pad favorite function can be programed to activate the front camera? Or is the favorite key only restricted to the functions of the "Command" mouse?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Not sure about your model, but on our '14 Ml and '14 GL we have the favorite button set up to turn on the front camera. Very convenient when pulling into the garage.

I see that as no biggie because it is just as simple to press the button to the left. I just wish there was a way to get the cameras to come on automatically every time I'm driving under 5 mph.

You can, there is a kit you can order to do just that. I was thinking of doing it but in Stop and go traffic, that camera motor will take a beating. You can add on a parking sensor to the unit so it will automatically turn on only when it senses a curb.

Understood MBS. I sit far back and actually have to lean forward to push the button on the dash. It would be nice to just swipe/press with my right hand. Maybe I just need longer arms. Thanks for your help.

doesn't solve the issue - but i put 3 small adhesive "dots" on my 360 button - and i know press to the right of it for night view assist, otherwise i hit the 360 camera nearly every time i'm parking - i don't hit those other buttons.
i put similar dots around the radio/navi buttons, but less important or used - the 360 button? that's all the time for me.
as for under 5mph, i forgot to shut it during my car wash today - i remembered part way in, lens showed water droplets after i exited, otherwise (thankfully) no damage. constant on could leave it open to damage...

Ahh, I never thought about the under 5 mph situations as to which I wouldn't want it to open the little door. Thanks for bringing that up to my attention. I think I saw where the button for camera was moved over to the right of the mouse pad on the newer models. Now that made sense.

Best of both worlds with no input from driver.. There is a module you can add to the car that will automatically turn on the 360 camera automatically below 4mph. But, if you add the following, http://www.brandmotion.com/sensors/curb-alert.html to the module, the cameras will only turn on when it sensed an obstruction or curb within a foot or two in front of the vehicle. No input at all from driver needed, no pressing of any buttons, it is a canbus module with no cutting of factory wires. I'll try to locate the link.

Here ya go! https://www.midcityengineering.com/d...era-on-demand/
I spoke to the vendor. This is the solution. It can be configured as follows with minor install.
Combining the Curb Alert will do the following. The hardest part is running the Curb Alert wiring neatly and hidden if you choose. i absolutely hate adding after market items to such a great car, but in the NY area with Cement Curb Stops everywhere, I don't want to have to remember to make sure the car is raised before parking or having to hit the button to view the cameras (no comments please, my wife often drives the car and will NOT do anything except drive it.). But this is the solution if you want a fully automatic addition to enhance the existing camera system without having to Activate every time you park with curb's or you do not want to put extra stress on the front camera motor, it will only activate when an obstacle is in front. I plan on completing this over the summer when i have some time. Good luck. P.S. there are also installation videos for the Curb Alert only on YouTube. You really do not need any special tools, it just needs to be calibrated once and connected to the Aux input on the MidCity part. Tech/Engineering were very helpful and supportive. I also inquired with them if they could activate the Exhaust Valves (looking to do a Cat Back System) when the Sport/Comfort button was hit to active the opening of the valves. They were interested in looking into the code to do this. I did not want to tape/install a switch or use a wireless remote to control the valves, I like the idea of a clean / neat and automatic solution.
