Any update on this? I have the same issue. The dealer is saying it's a malfunction of an internal microswitch in the latch assembly. It's a known problem to MB and the part is on a national back order with no ETA. 2018 S63

Wow, I bet they work fine on Toyota Avalons and Camry's :o(.

My car is in the shop for the 2nd time in 2 months for a Check Engine Light stuck on. First time they had it for a week (a misfire issue or something like that). This time, it's going on 2 weeks now. I love the rental car E300 but this is getting crazy. 2018 S63.

I wrote my SA and his manager on the weekend, asking for an update. Nothing so far...
It's getting ridiculous, I cannot use the trunk and MB has no idea how to fix it since August.

A safety complain? What is the safety concern with the trunk?

Ok fair. In my case the trunk is closed but it "just" takes 20 minutes to get it there.

i had the same issue on my new 2019 E450 Cab... once. Went to the gym and when I came back out decided to throw my gym bag in the trunk.
It would close then immediately pop open again. Over and over I kept thinking it was broken. I kept kicking under the back to see if a sensor was stuck or something (was grasping at straws here).

Then i I decided to try to turn the car on and off to see if it would reset something. Got in the driver’s seat but the car wouldn’t start... then realized that the damn key fob was in the gym bag, which was IN THE TRUNK. Boy was that a “duh” moment.

For what it's worth, my dealer told me early this past week that MB has a solution for the trunk not closing. The problem is indeed with the latch. They are on back order and the dealer tells me that they will be here soon.

Update. Mercedes Benz fixed the problem, they replaced the trunk latch (over a month ago). For my troubles they came thru for me, I'm a happy camper now!

Trunk not closing TSB number

Would appreciate it if someone could post the specific TSB number that refers to the trunk not completely closing and locking on the 2018-2019 S Class. Just called my MB service department and they are unaware of a TSB for my 2018 S560.

They changed the trunk latch, problem fixed. I was sent a nice check for my troubles!
