Any update on this? I have the same issue. The dealer is saying it's a malfunction of an internal microswitch in the latch assembly. It's a known problem to MB and the part is on a national back order with no ETA. 2018 S63

Wow, I bet they work fine on Toyota Avalons and Camry's :o(.
My car is in the shop for the 2nd time in 2 months for a Check Engine Light stuck on. First time they had it for a week (a misfire issue or something like that). This time, it's going on 2 weeks now. I love the rental car E300 but this is getting crazy. 2018 S63.

It's getting ridiculous, I cannot use the trunk and MB has no idea how to fix it since August.

Today I had the car hand washed, they opened the trunk to dry the water from the edges of the trunk, they went to close the trunk and sure enough, the damn trunk did not close. we tried for over 5 hours and no luck, at the end we use DUCT TAPE to hold the trunk down, yeap DUCT tape on a brand new 2019 S560 so I can at least make it home. I called Mercedes Benz of Manhattan 5-6 times while trying to get this trunk to close and not one person helped me. On my last call to the dealer, I was told by the gent on the phone that is a knowing issue with some 2019 S560's and that Mercedes Benz has zero solution yet.

I just took delivery of a 2019 S560 and asked the product specialist about this problem. He told me Germany thinks it has to do with the Key FOB proximity to the trunk.
He suggested that you use the release/lock on the door or stand away from the vehicle when trying to close the trunk. He thinks software is coming to fix.

It would close then immediately pop open again. Over and over I kept thinking it was broken. I kept kicking under the back to see if a sensor was stuck or something (was grasping at straws here).
Then i I decided to try to turn the car on and off to see if it would reset something. Got in the driver’s seat but the car wouldn’t start... then realized that the damn key fob was in the gym bag, which was IN THE TRUNK. Boy was that a “duh” moment.

Just like employers now look at the social media history of perspective employees, I assume there will come a day in the future that I will drive into a Mercedes dealership and be refused service!

For what it's worth, my dealer told me early this past week that MB has a solution for the trunk not closing. The problem is indeed with the latch. They are on back order and the dealer tells me that they will be here soon.

Update. Mercedes Benz fixed the problem, they replaced the trunk latch (over a month ago). For my troubles they came thru for me, I'm a happy camper now!

Trunk not closing TSB number
Would appreciate it if someone could post the specific TSB number that refers to the trunk not completely closing and locking on the 2018-2019 S Class. Just called my MB service department and they are unaware of a TSB for my 2018 S560.
