Not hijacking my thread...... ITs all good. I changed the diff fluid in the car at 30,000 miles. As stated it was VERY easy to do.
What was strange was changing the oil on this beast. I had to jack up all four corners and run the engine till oil was 205 degrees and then drain the oil tank within three min of shutting down engine (while oil cooler thermostats are open) then you drain a small amount of oil out of the pan. Finally you change the oil filter from the bottom of the engine which I read is a first for Mercedes.

No just a garage that keeps the cars out of the weather.

Was that $68- for one bottle or 2... You will need 2 bottles and have some left over.

Hell anyone who works on their own car now a days is alright by me. Getting harder to find car owners who do this. My friend down here in Florida had a 2008 Maybach and would do the work himself. This thread and many others is a blessing.

I have said this before but to help. There are MANY vendors on Ebay that sell the MERCEDES DEALER suite that has all the maintenance and repair directions the dealer uses to perform the work on your car. The price of it (often called Mercedes WIS) is about 14 dollars or less depending on if you get a dvd or you download the program onto your computer.
It does have a bit of a learning curve to find stuff and it takes about three minutes to boot up but aside from that its amazing.
On the AMG GT forum someone cut and pasted all the routine maintenance directions for the car in one post. If you wish take a look and you will see that the directions are pretty straight forward. Here is the link.
https://mbworld.org/forums/amg-gt/66...intenance.html
The Mercedes wis even has the directions on how to disassemble the GUARD version of our cars. So it tells and shows you how to remove the armor plating........And of course there is the parts manual you can use to look up the park numbers for everything....
Youtube is also pretty amazing for info as well. On our Ford e150 van I was having an intermittent ABS warning light coming on. I saw on youtube a common problem was cold solder joints on the ABS controller board. Needless to say it took about an hour and a half but the I got the abs controller out. Cut it in half (its bonded together). Took a solder gun and re flowed the solder joints, glued it back together and put it back on the van. I dont have any abs light anymore. Cost me my time only. The cost of a new ABS controller was $335 on ebay.

Great Info Katie! Thanks very much. I have been playing with cars since I am 12. As a young man I did all my work because I had to. Experience over these years has shown me the work is NOT always be done even though I am being charged. Have come across this several times between myself and friends. It is shocking driving around thinking your on fresh fluids with proper service and it was never done. The other side of the coin is lack of expertise and having to bring the car back to the dealer? Ridiculous. Now later in life and able to pay I find it relaxing and enjoy knowing it was done correctly with the correct fluids. Its not about saving money, it's pride and confidence in what was done. I like being familiar with all my cars. Sometimes when my neck is hurting and shoulder is killing me I ask "why am I doing this, I don't have to ?" The reason is= this is who I am. Thanks for the info, going on Ebay now!

Thanks for that. I was just consider which one. I am all Apple here and some of the downloads are not for Mac which is becoming another issue. I have a question in to a vendor if there is a disc version for Mac as all seem Windows only. There was a download for Mac but rather have the disc for when I go over to the garage which is offsite from my house. Thanks Katie!

Can you provide a link for 2014 W222, there are so many, I have no idea which one. This is an example of what I found of the hundreds...…
Thanks!

For clarity I don’t think it’s very portable. I think that even with a disk version you end up loading a lot of data onto the computer and with mine you sign onto a virtual machine. It like your booting up a new computer inside of your computer.
What I do is simply print off to pdf what I am working on and then I can take it with the phone. Basically like what the person did for the gt forum.

Nice Ride. The WIS package covers ALL the cars from 30 years ago to say 2018. Learning how to find YOUR car was part of the learning process of using the program. What you put up there is not familiar to me. It looks like someone has compiled pages of WIS and put them into PDF.
So with that said I will say look for MERCEDES WIS on ebay. Your 2014 W222 with be part of the directions in there.
I do not know about Mac. I am all apple except for this computer at home. As I said I will bring up the manual pages I want on here and print to pdf so i can see them on the ipad.

Did front brake pads and discs on mine just last week, was quite surprised how easy it was to do.
Currently working a possible fix for the dreaded headlight moisture issue, my headlight is on my office desk at home here right now. if it works ill share the details.
One thing I did figure out today was that I can access the upper headlight control unit now without removing the under trays & front bumper and headlight assembly. Instead I was able to move the coolant tank and the lift up the window washer bottle giving access to the remove the control unit where the desiccant packs are installed.
15 mins job tops, so if my other repair I'm trying doesn't work ill be changing the gel packs every six months, not ideal but not as bad as pulling the bumper and headlight out as previously was the case.
