Mercedes-AMG is only releasing 130 of the S65 Final Edition, each gets numbered badge

(Sorry if this has already been posted somewhere here. I was just sent this info from a friend. GORGEOUS.)
The 2019 Mercedes-AMG S65 Final Edition Says Auf Wiedersehen to the V-12 S-class

  1. It's the end of an era now that this Final Edition is out; this is to be the last V-12–powered Mercedes-Benz S-class.
  2. Mercedes-AMG is only releasing 130 of the S65 Final Edition, and each gets a numbered badge.
  3. The good news: The Final Edition's appearance at the Geneva auto show this week portends the arrival of an all-new S-class in the near future.

To mark the end of the V-12 era, Mercedes-AMG is launching this Final Edition model of the S65 sedan, complete with stylish copper and carbon-fiber accents and a very limited run of just 130 units available worldwide. The exterior will be finished in Obsidian Black Metallic paint and outfitted with matte bronze accents, bronze 20-inch wheels, and an AMG crest on the rear roof pillar.

Inside, Mercedes-AMG stylists have carried over the black and bronze theme in a subtle way by including black nappa leather with bronze stitching, carbon-fiber trim with black and bronze threads, copper-colored ambient lighting, and floor mats with bronze details. The center console lid also will feature a "1 of 130" badge denoting the exclusivity of the Final Edition.
We reported last April that Mercedes-AMG would be dropping the silky-smooth V-12 engine from the S-class lineup once a redesigned model hit the market. We've also seen spy photos of the next generation S-class as recently as this month. The Final Edition's bow at the Geneva auto show is a clue that an all-new S-class must be just around the corner.

For the record, we're sad to see the car's twin-turbocharged V-12 go. In the AMG-branded S-class, it makes 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, good for a 3.9-second rip from zero to 60 mph at our test track. Although that proved to be slower than the V-8–powered S63 sedan, there's just something about the V-12's signature resonant warble that causes goosebumps even at idle.

The Final Edition comes fully loaded with goodies such as a panoramic sunroof with Mercedes's variable-tint Magic Sky Control feature, power-reclining rear seats, heated and cooled cupholders, a plethora of driver-assistance and infotainment features, and even a custom-fitted car cover with the Final Edition logo.

Mercedes-AMG hasn't announced pricing for the Final Edition, but it won't be cheap: A similarly equipped standard S65 runs almost $240,000. If you want to own one of the very last 12-cylinder S-classes, call your money guy, get your checkbook ready, and contact your local Mercedes dealer.

No thanks. Those rims and those classless color accents belong on no S-Class of mine.

Not my idea of an attractive car, performance wise or appearance wise. If I had the choice of this car or my current S560, I’d take my current car.

I have always loved the V12TT engine but its time has passed. Depreciation on all luxury cars is brutal and the AMG's are no exception. I just came across a 2018 S65 with high miles (51k miles) which is high for the US and will scare many but in reality low for a S-Class and this engine; its more or less just run in by now. Depreciation in 1 year? $115k...

Did I miss something, or is this super-duper, limited model NOT equipped with Ceramic Composite Brakes???? Why would they possibly do this?

I think that the fabulous CCB Brakes should be offered as optional on ALL E, S & SL Class models and on all AMG models. Why not? The stuff is sitting in parts bins, why not offer it to those willing to cough up the big bucks?

Little too "Smoky and the Bandit" for me. Would love to own an S65 but I have a feeling the long term cost of ownership would bury me.

Sad that the v12 is going to be available on just the Maybach. We have a V12 and its a wonderful engine that deserves to be available on more cars......

Truly the end of an era for Mercedes. There was a time not long ago where the M275, M157, M156 and M152 were part of a AMG line up. Now they cram the 4.0L M177 in everything. Let's not forget those fake "53" series AMG's

I, too, think this is a sad demise of a great and roadworthy engine. So smooth, so quiet, so refined,.....no V8 can match the smoothness nor sound.....

I love the car cover in the picture. Is that real or just photo-shopped?

I wouldn’t be surprised if they are just using up the last run of V12 blocks they made with a stash for warranty and third party carmakers.

I always loved the 65, had all 3 iterations (except G) but the new, updated and fabulous S63 made it irrelevant and outdated.
If only they offered this car with AWD, the market for it, even at the lofty prices it commands, would be much, much stronger.

I too would have liked for the S65 Coupe/sedan to be all wheel drive. The 65 series cars are geared more towards luxury than performance. While the S63 has all wheel drive, a more powerful engine than before and much improved transmission, it does not have as smooth and effortless power delivery as the S65, nor dos it have majic body control, Tilting suspension, and various other luxury options. They are truly different cars. Since the S65 has an older transmission and lacks all wheel drive, for those that performance is paramount, the S63 is definitely the better choice. Since many S65 buyers want the better performance (and the benefits of all wheel drive and lower pricing) we've seen the S63 sales climb and the S65 sales drop. But many, myself included still prefer the V12 and are willing to make the other compromises to get it.

it is real, I believe is similar as the one I use for my S65, different color and fabric, picture look like a wetsuit lycra or diving suit fabric, factory car covers fits like a glove. Look like a S65 $3,000 car cover !

I'd love to get those bronze wheels on my '15 S65 Sedan.

Hey, does anyone know if I can put the 2018+ headlights on my 2015 S65?

"How many of S65 Final Editions came to the US?"

Probably not too many but I'd love to own one one day, even though it's way too blingy for me (typically). Here's the only one I could find for sale in the US. $255500 and it's sale pending with 1230 miles
