2020 W223 more spy info

Several sites (carbuzz, topspeed, etc) are showing a new set of photos of the W223 with most of the cladding removed, giving a better idea of the actual sheet metal. They seem to confirm electric pop-out door handles, matrix lights and sequential rear turn signals. They also indicate that the Tesla-style screen is confirmed and level 3 semi-autonomy. A couple of sites say that the engines will ALL be hybrid based on 6 cyl versions. Here's 1 link with more: carscoops

Man..... That huge screen ruins it. I'll be sticking with the W222 chassis for sure.

I really hate that big screen. The way it sits it is SO obtrusive. GEEZE!

UGH. That's too bad on the screen. It's all about the tech today, even at the expense of style and elegance. What is it about MB and their obsession with these tablets and screens? Why can't they integrate like Bentley?

I hate the screens on the outside of the dash also. It makes them lookl like a after thought. Time will tell though when sales numbers come out. Many will buy just because they think it’s the latest innovation. I personally will not. Just to old fashioned and like the different dash part to meld together like they are in a slow dance. Not the heater skelter look of a huge pad stuck to the dash with s hot glue gun....

I’m definitely “Old School” myself and much prefer more traditional looking interiors. That said, unless MB rethinks this thing, something will have to give. I don’t want my daily driver to be much of anything over three years old and I surely don’t want to be driving an S Class out of warranty. So, I’ll either bite the bullet and get a new one, or possibly think of switching brands. More than likely, I’ll end up with a new S Class. I had been threatening to go with a Genesis G90–a car that I happen to think very highly of—but they have just released photos of the 2020 model and it would appear that they are following Lexus over the cliff with a huge, terribly gaudy grill. Compared to that, I can live with a big touch screen in a new MB.

Good grief! That Genesis grill looks like chain link fence turned diagonally!!! Or maybe part of a large BBQ grill set up.....

Yeah, you could definitely grill some food on that!

All kidding aside, does anyone think the tech is moving way too fast? I mean cars are now like cell phones, right? Latest and greatest. Larger obnoxious screens. Spending 100's of thousands and afraid to keep out of warranty because of so many things that can go wrong. Sometimes it feels like a treadmill, I mean I like buying cars like most if us here but is it becoming too much? Maybe bite the bullet and go Bentley? How is that reliability? At least you won't feel obsolete after three years.

To your point Bentley would definitely be smart to maintain a traditional look interior.

I can't speak for the Flying Spur--the closest Bentley competitor to the S Class--as I have not driven one, but I did recently drive a V8 Continental convertible, before ordering a new SL450 and I decidedly did NOT like the car. Very heavy, plodding, bloated. If the Flying Spur is anything like that--and I am imagining it is--I don't think anyone who loves a W222 would like one. In addition, compared to the S Class, I believe the Bentley is way over priced.
